With no room at the inn and no room down the road, we left not knowing where we were going, but knowing we wanted to ride. \u00a0But first a ferry ride across the Mersey…….So duckies, cross the Mersey…\u00a0<\/em>….Gerry and the Pacemakes created the iconic song.\"photo-2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Though you can throw a stone across the river,\"DSCN1743\"<\/a> we were treated to a tour down,\"DSCN1728\"<\/a> back \"DSCN1741\"<\/a>and then over the Mersey River, offering a beautiful view of both Liverpool\"DSCN1727\"<\/a> and the opposite shore.\"photo\"<\/a>\u00a0The wind was kicking up, blowing in the storm for tomorrow, but thankfully it was behind us. \u00a0That was the good part, the busy road on the other hand, was not so fun or picturesque.<\/p>\n

We had tried for hours to find a place to stay in the next town, highly recommended by several as a place to see. \u00a0Since our sightseeing in Liverpool was limited, we were happy to find a hotel, \"DSCN1754\"<\/a>the first one we came to, as we approached city centre. \u00a0A stroll around the town was not disappointing. \u00a0The wall around the city\u00a0\"DSCN1761\"<\/a>and other\u00a0remnants\"DSCN1769\"<\/a>speak of the fort built in 79 A.D. by the Romans.<\/p>\n

The streets are lined with interesting shops,\"DSCN1771\"<\/a>\u00a0candy\"DSCN1789\"<\/a>and old buildings,\"DSCN1770\"<\/a> but most notable is the Chester Cathedral,\"DSCN1790\"<\/a> “The cathedral…. dates from between 1093 and the early 16th century, although the site itself may have been used for Christian worship since Roman times.<\/em>\u00a0” \u00a0It is amazing to walk a cloister built in the reign of Henry VIII.\"DSCN1777\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The nave was amazing, as was the stain glass\"DSCN1779\"<\/a> and incredibly detailed mosaic walls\"DSCN1787\"<\/a>all viewed while listening to the choir sing like angels. \u00a0Fascinating Cathedral and lovely town.<\/p>\n

A great day starts late, ends early and has the wind at your back the entire time. \u00a0 The weather has been fabulous the last few days, guess it’s\u00a0paying it forward, as the forecast for tomorrow is for 100% chance of rain.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
