<\/a>but the threat of rain…….let’s just say, it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time.<\/p>\nWe ran out of bike signs and ended up crossing over a railroad track three times. Hoping to not hike the track a fourth time we stopped and consulted a map, that was offering very little assistance.\u00a0 Asking someone walking by, arms loaded, if they spoke English.\u00a0 Yes, Elfie did. We wound through forests, fields and a few small towns, We really do well when the road is straight and\/or when the bike path signs are at intersections.\u00a0 But if you miss just one, you can be wandering for miles.\u00a0 Once again at an intersection with that confused look on our faces, peter, came to the rescue.<\/p>\n Have we mentioned how fantasticly friendly the German people are?!?<\/em><\/p>\n Shortly before our destination, we came to an area used in the ’72 Olympics whitewater rafting competition.<\/p>\n A short pedal further and we reached our stop.\u00a0 Augsburg is the second oldest city in Germany, beautiful buildings,<\/p>\n
\n<\/a><\/a>She laid her packages on the sideway and tried to show us on the map how to get back on track.\u00a0 Realizing the map was not helping and we were not entirely understanding, she grabbed her bike and lead us to our path.<\/p>\n<\/a>but the on and off light sprinkles we had prevented a lot of pictures.<\/p>\n<\/a>In the rain<\/em>, he diverted his own course and led us four miles to the path along the river<\/p>\n<\/a>that would take us into Augsberg.<\/p>\n<\/a>As we were taking pictures, we struck up with a conversation with Rudolf and his wife,<\/p>\n<\/a>out enjoying the afternoon on bikes.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a> and interesting statues.<\/p>\n<\/a>However, for as large as the city is and as much as it seemed to offer, there were not many people on the streets<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>A few more of the required tourist shots, then we must hunt down dinner.<\/a><\/p>\n
