Out of the door to overcast, \"\"<\/a>yet hazy sun poking through occasionally and 60 degree temps, should be a good day to put in some miles.\u00a0 We immediately noticed the lack of cars on the road for a Monday morning.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a>No rush hour, not even bikers scurrying to work………..was today actually Sunday?\u00a0 For two hours, though we had beautiful countryside before us,\"\"<\/a> we were distracted by the lack of people.\u00a0 When we biked through a town around 10 am and the church bells were tolling (not to tell the time),<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>we stopped to check our log and make sure it really was not <\/em>Sunday……feels like a Sunday, but definitely a Monday, all day…….. two Sunday morning rides in one week, Fabulous! <\/em>Even better, we were on the right route (like we needed a sign).\"\"<\/a><\/em>Again, quaint small towns, beautiful fields, \"\"<\/a>and glimpses of the Donau\"\"<\/a>awaited us.<\/p>\n

But this<\/em>, we did not expect.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Walhalla, commissioned by King Ludwig I (began in 1830), is a hall of fame for distinguished Germans.\u00a0 Apparently the inside is beautiful, but for us to see it would require a very steep climb……….we’ll just look at the brochures.<\/p>\n

Our bike path today was on mostly paved roads and well marked, so we made good time, 55 miles in under 5 hours to our destination.\u00a0 A quick spin of the Deggendorf, revealed another pretty old town<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>with three church steeples you could see standing in one spot.\u00a0 And once again, something we didn’t expect to see in the middle of the square.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Not exactly Maple Street, but some good volleyball players.<\/p>\n
