We’ve had to put the brakes on our trip. \u00a0With the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, we have been unable to find Any<\/em> rooms on the Outer Banks.\u00a0 After four hours of routing, re-routing and calling hotels yesterday, we came to the conclusion if we were staying coastal, \u00a0we would have to take at least one day off somewhere and probably do several short rides to slow down our\u00a0arrival to the Outer Banks.<\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/a>\u00a0was dramatically darker\u00a0this morning.\"\"<\/a> \u00a0But\u00a0sleeping to\u00a0the sound of the ocean waves and the overnight rain was delightful. \u00a0Even with the ominous sky, this seems like the perfect place to take a day off.<\/p>\n

The sky lifted slightly about mid-day \"\"<\/a>and gave us a chance get to the beach for a\u00a0sunny\u00a0picture\"\"<\/a> or two\u00a0before the clouds closed in again.\"\"<\/a> \u00a0Kids, always oblivious to stormy weather,\"\"<\/a> enjoyed the small tidal pools, \"\"<\/a>much like at home in Virginia Beach.<\/p>\n

Myrtle Beach\u00a0is wide and flat\u00a0\"\"<\/a>and seems to stretch forever.\"\"<\/a> \u00a0The narrow sand dune, totally wiped out by Hurricane Hugo in 1989, is slowly making a comeback. \u00a0The city has created small parks,\"\"<\/a> planted\u00a0sea grass and has made\u00a0it illegal to walk the dune anywhere other than crosswalks. \u00a0But even after twenty eight years, \"\"<\/a>the dune\u00a0still struggles against the wind and sea.<\/p>\n

We thought about a massage today, but the best offer we’d seen,\"\"<\/a> was apparently short on help (in case you missed this from yesterday, it was from a BBQ joint).<\/p>\n

Mid-afternoon, the wind picked up and a few rain squalls came through.\"\"<\/a> \u00a0With a small break in the rain, we biked up to dinner. \u00a0Since we missed\u00a0last night’s\u00a0restaurant’s specialty, brick oven pizza, we returned tonight. \u00a0\"\"<\/a>As good as the pizza was, their pastas Rule!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t
