We awoke this morning to no wind and warm temps. Being right on the sea offered no comfort; it was a warm 78.\u00a0 But no wind meant our climb out of Sagres would not be as tough; or so we thought.\u00a0 Even without yesterday’s 30 mph winds in our face we still managed only 5 mph in some spots, plus a picture or two.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Luckily, it was only a 5 mile backtrack.<\/p>\n

It was a tough ride though, up and down \"\"<\/a> and up and down again \"\"<\/a> in blazing sun.\u00a0 With the ride along their state route,\"\"<\/a> there was not much of an opportunity for good pictures.\u00a0 Luckily, a couple hours into our ride as the haze overtook the sun and the rising temps eased, we went through the city of Lagos \"\"<\/a> and along their port.\"\"<\/a>We biked for about an hour with minimal climbing, which was a relief\"\"<\/a>but that is about the time the clouds started building\"\"<\/a> and wind picked up\u2026.in our face.<\/p>\n

After being beaten up by the wind for a few hours, we stopped five miles short of our 50 mile goal. \u00a0Dropping a couple of miles into town, we\u00a0found a place right on the ocean with a spectacular view from our balcony.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The “tourist season” doesn’t officially start for another couple of weeks, but you’d think there would be at least a few people enjoying the massive boardwalk.\"\"<\/a>Not even that many people\u00a0on<\/em> the beaches\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I ventured a toe in the water, but that’s it, too\u00a0Cold!\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

One more picture of the beach and then we need to eat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Dora, at the front desk, recommended a restaurant she owns with her husband, Jose. \u00a0Usually a risk, but this was an exception; the food at Restaurante M.B.M. was divine and the presentation impressive…..highly recommend it, if you ever find yourself in Armacao de P\u00eara.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

That’s it for today, our legs are tired and tummies full.\n\t\t
